Spirit of Truth, Kindergarten, School Edition
Science
Textbook: Mystery Science
Mystery Science features multimedia units. Each lesson starts by posing a question commonly asked by kids, like "Do plants eat dirt?" or "Why are so many toys made out of plastic?" A series of short videos and prompts then guides a class discussion, followed by an experiment that can be done as a class. Units of study include: Plant and Animal Needs, Weather and Seasons, and Forces, Machines and Engineering.
Heggerty Writing
Our kindergarten students develop early writing skills through a structured, phonics-based approach aligned with the Heggerty curriculum. As children strengthen their phonemic awareness, they begin applying those skills to writing by connecting sounds to letters and forming simple words. Daily practice includes guided writing, drawing, and opportunities to express ideas using inventive spelling. These activities help build confidence while reinforcing the connection between reading and writing. By the end of the year, students are able to write simple sentences and share their thought with growing independence.
History
Resources: The Story of the World, The Story of Civilization, and Select Literature Reading Titles
Focusing on Ancient Civilizations, kindergarten students will learn about Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and the geography of ancient civilizations through read-alouds and beautiful visuals, maps and atlases.
Heggerty Reading
Our kindergarten students build strong, early literacy skills through the Heggerty curriculum, a research-based program focused on phonemic awareness. Each day, children engage in fun, interactive lessons that develop their ability to hear, identify, and manipulate sounds in words. These foundational skills are essential for reading success and are taught through songs, movement, and engaging routines. The consistent structure helps students gain confidence while making learning enjoyable. By strengthening these early language skills, we prepare out learners for a lifetime of reading and academic growth.
Math
