Mrs. Pavlock graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in English and earned her secondary teaching certificate. After teaching English at Ladywood High School for three years, she left the classroom to focus on raising her three children. During those years at home, Mrs. Pavlock earned her Master’s in Written Communication (Teaching of Writing coursework) and served as a volunteer youth minister at St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Brighton. Prior to becoming principal at Holy Spirit Catholic School, Mrs. Pavlock worked for 12 years at Eastern Michigan University as associate director of the University Writing Center and served as co-director of the Eastern Michigan Writing Project, directing and developing youth and family literacy programs for students, parents, and families. In 2023, Mrs. Pavlock graduated with a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. As a trained Cognitive Coach, Mrs. Pavlock researched the experiences of educational leaders who have been trained in and use Cognitive Coaching as part of their leadership practice. Mrs. Thornburg also served in roles as President and Vice President of the Queens School PTO. Beyond the classroom, she has worked with kids of all ages as a swimming instructor, Girl Scout leader, and coach. She believes strongly in the foundation that Catholic education provides and strives to make each child feel special and loved. She served him coffee at the concession stand, and he was smitten. After graduating college, Ms. Chmielewski moved to Athens, OH where she was a nanny for two great children, ages 6-7. Now She is excited to start her first year as the elementary music teacher for Holy Spirit Catholic Schools. This class includes activities such as folk dancing, percussion circles, cardio drumming, and more. Mi llamo es Senora Biliti. I teach Spanish language and culture to Kindergarten - Eighth classrooms once a week for 5o minutes. I have taught 50 years previously, from infants (music) to adults (adult ed writing). Most of my experience comes from teaching literature and writing at the high school level and from teaching music at the elementary level. I’ve traveled to Bogota, Columbia three times, Spain once and Mexico briefly. I have always enjoyed basic conversations in Spanish. So, I jumped at the opportunity to share the Spanish language with young people.
